Frassinoro Castle Murals & Decorative Motifs
The illuminated manuscript, the Codice of Lucca, in Lucca, Italy was used as the source material for the murals describing the history of Matilde di Canossa, a medieval ruler of a vast territory in Europe around 1000 AD. The murals were painted in Frassinoro Castle, located in the Celtic-Italian village of Frassinoro, Italy in the Appennine Mountains. It was once a part of her territory.
